Late September and Early October is the perfect time to give your North Carolina lawn that chance for a healthy, lush appearance next year. Here are a few tips to consider before you get started:
1. Aerate, Aerate, Aerate! - It's probably one of the more challenging tasks but it's well worth your efforts. Aeration allows water, nutrients and oxygen to reach the roots of your grass and can help with compacted soil so common in the Triad. You may want to hire a professional or, for you do it yourself types, you can rent an aerator from your local hardware store or rental facility.
2. Seed, Lime & Fertilize! - The days are warm and the nights are cool! It's the perfect time to seed your lawn. We recommend you buy high quality seed (read the label to verify the blend is appropriate for your needs), follow the spreading directions on the package and water, water, water! Consider spreading lime and a high quality fertilizer formulated for use with new lawns or overseeding.
3. North Carolina lawns can be tricky. Visit the North Carolina Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services website for more information on how best to care for your lawn. CLICK HERE
